The art of leather goods: dive into
leather trades

Leather goods brings together various trades related to work and the manufacture of leather elements such as bags main, of the wallets, shoes, accessories and many others.
This is an area combining craftsmanship and creative processes, which offers a variety of actors: whether they are master-maroquiers, designers or tanners ; Each of them brings their knowledge to achieve the ideal product.

The first link in the chain: the designer

The leather goods designer is the person who will design the prototypes of the future models. Constantly at the forefront of trends,
they have limitless creativity. This must be combined with a functional flair to design products that are as attractive as possible.

Talented inventors and designers, they
draft meticulously detailed sketches to provide an efficient manufacturing experience. Constantly exceeding the possible with boundless imagination, they are the ones who offer you innovative products in line with the trends and needs of
buyers.

They are designers, but above all they are professional artists who work as closely as possible to leather goods workers; while sharing their knowledge. Indeed, they must propose humanly feasible prototypes and must therefore have very in-depth knowledge in terms of leatherwork, of the manufacturing techniques and various production processes.

The second link in the chain: the tanner

The tanner will process animal skins received in the workshops, in order to transform them into usable products for leather goods manufacturers.

The hides arrive raw and must go through several stages aimed at preparing and standardizing the matter.
They are first treated to remove all residue, before being tanned using tanning agents which aim to stabilize and harden the material, making it resistant to the test of time.

Tanners, like designers, work hand in hand with leatherworkers. Indeed, they must also have in-depth knowledge and, above all, rigorous technical know-how: it is necessary to be attentive to the quality of the skins received as well as the different treatments corresponding to skin types.

Some tanning is done in the traditional way, that is, with plant extracts; while others are done using chemicals in order to meet the ever-increasing demand for leather.

The third link in the chain: the master leatherworker

The master leatherworker is the technical guarantor of production. He is responsible for supervising the production line, so as to guarantee quality and product compliance.

It is also thanks to him that the manufacturing processes are improved, optimized or even modified according to needs, in order to be able to offer high-end items highlighting all the leather characteristics.

The last link in the chain: the leatherworker

Leatherworkers are specialized craftsmen in the manufacturing of leather products. They are the ones who cut the leather, assemble the different pieces and sew them together. They also master a whole range of skills ranging from embossing to cold or hot engraving.

Guarantors of a craftsmanship, they participate in the preservation of traditions and their perpetuation. The transformation of the skin into a finished leather article requires manual work for the unique pieces and can also be done by machine during mass production. This does not in any way compromise the quality of the products, as these machines are manufactured and serviced by leather goods professionalsThe techniques used are therefore as close as possible to those requiring human intervention.

Their work is the result of years of learning and practice combined with intense concentration and a meticulous care Each gesture is meticulous, carried out with precision and dexterity.
